This major phase of 336 mixed-tenure homes marks the next chapter in the evolution of the Acton Gardens development.
The vision for the scheme is to ‘unlock’ the central part of the redevelopment and create a new network of connections into the surrounding neighbourhood linking the newly opened community centre at the heart of the neighbourhood and Stitch’s recently completed Phase 7.1 to the north.
The pedestrian experience leads the design, carefully composing a new street through the site to include wide pavements and space for landscaping to create a safe and welcoming route through the neighbourhood. At ground level, the entire scheme is lined with maisonettes providing a regular rhythm of front doors and a domestic scale to the streetscape.
The scheme frames two large parks where the new homes provide an elegant backdrop to the public spaces and complement the verdant legacy of the area.
Each building is given a unique character, responding to specific and varying site conditions. A rich palette of materials and textures using distinctive bricks and patterns suggests a strong new identity for this part of Acton Gardens.
The scheme achieved unanimous planning consent in June 2020 with construction due to commence in winter 2020.
