Stitch was engaged by Southwark Council in 2017 to develop the masterplan for Opportunity Site OKR13, between Verney Road and Sandgate street, which lies at the heart of the Old Kent Road regeneration area. We have worked closely with all stakeholders including landowners, occupiers and other architects to create a robust and deliverable plan which will transform the area into a world class urban quarter with a central London scale and character yet ensuring the industrial legacy of the area is preserved. The masterplan brings together over 20 different sites across 14.6ha of existing industrial and commercial land to create a comprehensive vision for a new high-density mixed-use neighbourhood.
A key feature of the masterplan is a new linear park connecting the neighbourhood to Burgess Park and collection of community facilities including health hub and secondary school that ensures existing residential communities will benefit from the new development.
Our masterplan fed into the wider AAP which is an awarding winning piece of work – clear, visionary, easy to use and a blueprint for a genuinely mixed-use new town centre for London. Stitch continues to be retained by the council to revise and amend the masterplan in response to consultation and stakeholder developments.
