Stitch was appointed by Be First (LB Barking and Dagenham) as part of a consortium including HTA and Pitman Tozer Architects to review the approved masterplan for the Gascoigne Estate and work up a new proposal that optimises density with exemplary new homes and spaces. This typology led study has reviewed a number of varying density propositions, providing the client with a range of options for taking forward the development of the southern phases of the Gascoigne Estate regeneration project.
We see the Gascoigne regeneration project as a major element of the Borough of Barking and Dagenham’s vision for Barking as a whole – a transformed local centre combined with truly affordable homes in a mixed community. Our proposals are intentionally ambitious in order to respond to the huge opportunities of the area, but also provide real benefits for local people, and are rooted in the reality of providing housing and opportunity for ordinary, local Londoners.
