Farnborough Court

Croydon Smaller Sites Programme

In 2019 Stitch was selected to work on the second batch of sites in Brick by Brick’s award winning ‘Smaller Sites Programme’ in Croydon, delivering affordable housing on small sites across the borough. We have recently submitted planning applications for two of these challenging infill sites in Monks Hill.

Farnborough Court is located on a sloping grassed area, providing 17 new homes over 6 storeys. From a simple block form that provides all round aspect, the mass is broken down to express two distinct volumes with a glazed break between them bringing light into the circulation core. The materials palette combines three contrasting brick tones with the two wings of the building expressed differently using colour and texture to distinguish the modulated forms from each other and to reduce the sense of scale.

The building is set within a south facing communal garden and a landscaped public space to the north of the building, including an informal play route and green space to benefit residents of the development and the local neighbourhood.
