Churchill Quarter is a rich, public realm led, mixed-use development offering 410 new homes alongside ground floor commercial space and the reprovision of a large community space.
In February 2017 Countryside Properties was selected by the London Borough of Bromley as their development partner to deliver a comprehensive residential-led development in Bromley Town centre. Stitch led the winning bid and was appointed as lead architect to deliver a detailed planning application which was submitted in May 2018.
Taking advantage of its town centre location, Churchill Quarter creates a mixed-use hub which enhances connectivity from the site into Church House Gardens and into the wider town centre. The scheme is a rare opportunity to offer a generous area of new public realm in addition to enhancing the existing amenity in Library Gardens. The adjacent Churchill Theatre and Library are given a new setting with activity and footfall through a generous public square, creating the beginnings of a cultural hub around these important town centre functions.
The design is the product of comprehensive engagement with local stakeholders and the local planning authority. As a result, the form and character of the design proposals has been highly responsive to the local conservation area and high street context, with consistent design evolutions to identify a uniquely Bromley character for the scheme.
